This post includes a FREE tutorial that shows you, step by step, how to recycle your old unused sheets and turn them into something incredibly rustic and beautiful, namely these fabric nesting baskets!
With spring cleaning coming up soon, this would be a great, and quick, project to consider adding to your other, much less fun, spring cleaning duties!
Additionally, there is another, separate tutorial included in the link below that will show you how to make the “fabric yarn” out of your sheets. Both tutorials can be found below.
Note that the tutorial for making the yarn recommends using flat sheets. You could probably also use a good majority of pieces of fitted sheets, however, there would be some parts (the corners) of fitted sheets that would not work for this project.
These nesting baskets are great for using anywhere that needs just a little bit more organization, and they are much more durable and sturdy than any basket you could crochet out of yarn.
The free crochet tutorial includes instruction for crocheting all three sizes of baskets.
The large measures approximately 8 x 3-1/2 inches, the medium one measures approximately 7 x 3 inches, and the small one measures approximately 6 x 2-1/2 inches.
You will need a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds with this tutorial. You will also need a tapestry needle.
