Have you ever heated up a bowl of soup or hot cereal in a microwave, only to find that you couldn’t pick the heated bowl of food up to remove it from the microwave because it’s too hot?
You can end this problem once and for all by crocheting one (or more!) of these microwave bowl cozies!
Before I go any further, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT I NOTE THAT USING ACRYLIC YARN FOR THIS PROJECT WILL CAUSE THE ACRYLIC YARN TO MELT. THEREFORE, FOR THIS PROJECT, 100% COTTON YARN IS YOUR ONLY OPTION.
The recommended yarn for this project is Lily Sugar n’ Cream. This brand of yarn is not only very high quality and easy to work with, it also has a huge variety of colors so that you can color-coordinate to virtually any color or color combo. that best suits your home (or the home of a very lucky gift recipient).
The finished dimensions of this bowl cozy include an 8-inch x 8-inch opening at the top and a 3.5-inch height up to the tops of the handles.
If you wish to make a cozy that is either larger or smaller than that, simply add or remove rounds.
If you use the recommended yarn, you can simply place your bowl of food inside the cozy and then place the entire set into the microwave and heat as normal.
